{"id":8793,"date":"2018-08-03T11:06:55","date_gmt":"2018-08-03T15:06:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nchealthplans.com\/news\/?p=8793"},"modified":"2018-08-03T11:06:55","modified_gmt":"2018-08-03T15:06:55","slug":"2019-blue-cross-blue-shield-of-nc-rates-and-changes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nchealthplans.com\/news\/2018\/08\/2019-blue-cross-blue-shield-of-nc-rates-and-changes\/","title":{"rendered":"2019 Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC Rates and Changes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nchealthplans.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8245 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nchealthplans.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/bigstock-141086612-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nchealthplans.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/bigstock-141086612-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.nchealthplans.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/bigstock-141086612-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.nchealthplans.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/bigstock-141086612.jpg 900w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \>Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina<\/a> announced on July 31<sup>st<\/sup> the company has filed for an average rate decrease of 4.1% on Affordable Care Act individual health plans for 2019.\u00a0 This will mark the first year North Carolina\u2019s largest health insurance company has filed for a rate decrease on individual plans after several years of double digit increases since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re moving in the right direction, but even with a lower rate, premiums are still too high \u2014 particularly for those who don\u2019t get a subsidy,\u201d said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nchealthplans.com\/news\/2018\/06\/blue-cross-ncs-new-leadership-provides-new-perspective\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Patrick Conway<\/a>, Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC\u2019s President and CEO. \u00a0\u201cWith more certainty from Washington, rates would be 15 percent or more lower.
