\"American<\/a>Happy 4th of July from NC Health Plans<\/a>!\u00a0 I wanted to find the very best recipe to share in celebration of our Independence Day, but the truth is I couldn’t decide on one.\u00a0 I was thinking about everything from cupcakes to BBQ to macaroni salad.\u00a0 I guess the 4th of July just makes me think about food – and all kinds of it!\u00a0 This holiday also reminds me of my southern roots.\u00a0 To this day, my very favorite 4th of July celebration happens in the little town of Sparta, North Carolina.<\/a>\u00a0 Up in the mountains and close to my mom, residents of Sparta celebrate Independence Day with a little parade, featuring everything from the mayor in a convertible to a kid on a riding lawn mower.\u00a0 Some of my favorites are the decorated golf carts carrying both owners and their furry friends.\u00a0 No one celebrates this country’s independence quite like residents of the south!<\/p>\n

And that includes southern food.\u00a0 Fried chicken, coleslaw, hot dogs, baked beans, banana pudding and brownies – no one does it better than a good old southern grandmother.\u00a0 Personally, I am partial to my mom’s potato salad and a simple slice of sweet watermelon.<\/p>\n

Since I just couldn’t decide, I am including this link where you can peruse 18 different 4th of July recipes,<\/a> including everything from a Fried Green Tomato Burger to a Southern Summer Succotash.\u00a0 And for those of us with a sweet tooth, there’s Country Cupcakes and a Can’t Miss Blueberry Crisp.\u00a0 My mouth is watering just thinking about it and we hope yours will too!<\/p>\n
