North Carolina Short Term Health Insurance FAQ 1. Who is eligible for Short Term coverage?
2. When will my coverage begin? A: You may choose any date for your coverage to begin, however, your coverage will begin no sooner than the day after the postmark date of the application, received by BCBSNC®. If the postmark is not legible, the effective date will be the day following application receipt by BCBSNC®. 3. Are prescription drugs covered? A: No, prescription drugs are not covered under your NC Short Term Health Insurance policy. For a complete listing of limitations and exclusions, please refer to the certificate or benefits booklet. 4. Can I renew my coverage? A: No. Once your Short Term Health Insurance coverage has ended, you would have to wait 12 months before purchasing another NC Short Term health plan. 5. When are premiums due for Short Term? A: Premiums are due in full with the submittal of the application. 6. How can I get a quote for Short Term coverage? A: Go to the following link to receive your NC Short Term Health Insurance quote. Next, click on the Temporary Health Insurance tab, then click on BCBSNC® 30-90 days. To determine your premiums, select the deductible option, the number of days you want coverage, and the appropriate age for the individuals you wish to insure. 6. Can I see my doctor for a routine physical with Short Term? A: No, preventive care, including routine or periodic physical examinations, immunizations, and well baby care are excluded. Pap smears, screening mammography and PSA test, as set forth in the certificate, are not excluded. For a complete listing of limitations and exclusions, please refer to the certificate or benefits booklet. 7. Is maternity included in Short Term coverage? A: No, maternity coverage is not available
for any members on short term products. |
